Seth Godin has an interesting blog post today about people being afraid of apples. Seth raises an interesting point, people are afraid of choices and the unknown! What are you doing to take advantage of this observation?
Take for example Seth’s recent experience with apples. He was asked by three people about what type of apples to buy. These were perfect strangers that were willing to ask someone else for advice, how many didn’t ask and therefore didn’t buy? What would happen if one of the farmers selling apples had nice laminated signs that explained which variety would be good for pies, which variety is sweet or tart, and what variety would be best for your kid’s lunchbox? Do you think he would have stood out and gained some more business?
Is your business explaining your products in a way that will answer your potential customers questions? Are you telling them what kind of apples will be best for them?
